Ukrainian-Canadian artist Taras Polataiko presented a new art project called 'Sleeping Beauties" at the National Art Museum in Kiev, Ukraine. Inspired by the famous fairy tale, the goal is to recreate the tale in real life and allow visitors to witness the birth of love. Five young women dressed in white wedding gowns, take turns sleeping under dim lights and soft music in front of visitors, having pledged to marry the prince — or princess — who wakes them with a kiss. But the installation also symbolizes the patience of the Ukrainian people who are trapped in what Taras calls the oppressive government of President Viktor Yanukovych.
