In Pulse Park, Mexican-born, Canada-based artist Rafael Lozano-Hemmer transforms the Westpark in Bochum, Germany, into a sea of light. With 250 theater spotlights, this interactive light installation is 50-spotlight-bigger than his 2008 installation at Madison Square Park. When a visitor holds the light, a computer-controlled sensor immediately translates the heartbeats into pulse of light and sound. Every new pulse is stored in the system and moves from one position to the next, so that the park is illuminated by the heartbeats.
