'Lives of Grass', a body of organic sculptural work made of soil and wheat grass seeds by Paris-based artist Mathilde Roussel, gives the passage of time a physical presence in the growth and eventual decay of grass. This work is inspired by Osiris, the God of renewal in Egyptian Mythology, who is also the embodiment of fertile land and natural cycles: death and rebirth, dryness and fertility.
This work was exhibited at galleries across the United States in 2010.
