New Zealand-born, Australia-based artist Mike Hewson creates unforgettable public art installations in memory of the Feb 22nd Christchurch earthquake. He placed large-format photographs taken at the Government Life Building Studios on buildings damaged by the eqrthquake and listed for imminent demolition. The Government Life Building Studio series is a powerful body of work based on memories of life as an arts community in a city that has survived one of the deadliest disasters in its history.
The scars that the earthquake left on the Cathedral structure is a significant historical ‘document’ in itself of how the earthquake has affected the city. - Mike Hewson
