Caten, a name derived from the term catenary, is a site-specific levitating sculpture by Berlin-based artist David Letellier for the Saint Sauveur chapel in Caen, France. Suspended from two ropes that connected to rotating arms, this translucent net of 300 strings slowly rotates and creates curves that reflect the shapes of the church arches. At each turn, the machines emit one of the 4 notes (Ut, Re, Mi, Fa) in low frequencies, which resonate in the space.
