Amsterdam-based artist Berndnaut Smilde originally made the 'Nimbus' cloud installation for Probe back in 2010. Probe, an exhibition space with walls no higher then 1,10m and a surface of 6m², was only accessible on the internet. On February 23, 2012, Smilde successfully reenacted the floating cloud 'Nimbus II' (above photo) at HotelMariaKapel's 15th century chapel in Hoorn, Netherlands
The idea I had was going to be an ephemeral work. It would only exist as a photo. I thought this would work very well with the idea of Probe, as the exhibitions only exist in the form of documentation. ~ Berndnaut Smilde on Nimbus, 2010
