Captivating Button Collages by Ran Hwang

Using materials from the fashion industry, New York-based Korean artist Ran Hwang creates large-scale collages with buttons, pins and thread. Hwang used buttons and thread because of their material properties, and symbolism, later, she started to pay more attention to the message behind her forms. She has often remarked that her work is a form of meditation leading towards inner harmony and peace. 

I use buttons, because they are common and ordinary like the existence of human beings. ~ Ran Hwang
