Seattle-based jewelry designer Sarah Hood stands out from other designers with her one-of-a-kind sculptural art jewelry. In her Landscape series, she worked with model railroad landscape materials to create tiny snapshots of the natural world, a miniature and artificial worlds within the context of jewelry.
My pieces are a constant exploration of the natural world, both its forms and its materials. I'm drawn to archetypes, those images floating beneath our collective consciousness–a perfect circle, an elongated leaf, a bare tree. I love striking profiles, elegant design, and unexpected combinations of materials.
Her newest rings, Palm Ring and Oak Ring, were accepted into the 10x10x10xTieton show in Tieton, WA. You can visit her blog for more details.
